This weekend was a very eventful one for me. My girls at Indian Middle School had their first Saturday practice which we worked on block starts to prepare for the first track meet of the season. We did not have any blocks because the middle school was locked up, so we worked on foot placement, hip height and body positioning. The girls looked great. They are really clinging to my teachings. Some of the veterans say "our coaches never broke it down to us". I have to continue to remind them that I am not training you to be great in middle school, but I am coaching you to perform great at the elite level, when it counts.

As far as this weekend goes, after we finished block starts the head coach for the middle schools boys called me over to the high jump pit and asked for some "All American" help. While I am getting them right the head coach of the High School track and field team walks over to me with a proposition we spoke of last week. He would like me to join his staff at the high school. My morning got that much better. He said he did not want to take me away from my girls and after all those girls will be the future team I am coaching later. I am so excited to be the key to the pipeline at Indian River Public Schools. I am ready to give my all into developing these young children in to fine tuned, respectful human beings and athletes.

The middle school girls track team first competition is on Thursday March 26 starting at 5:00 pm. Come out and support the team at Oscar Smith Middle School. I have not gotten the schedule for the high school track team but subscribe to my site for updates.
